Week 2
Day 1 / 3

God Let Him Sleep

1 Kings 19:5–6

Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep. All at once an angel touched him and said, "Get up and eat." He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again.

The thought

Elijah has just watched God do something enormous, and days later he's sitting under a bush asking to die. Whatever you think should happen next, this isn't it — God sends an angel with bread and lets him sleep. Twice. No confrontation, no "you of all people should know better." Food and sleep first. Conversation later. God knows something about you that you keep forgetting: sometimes what feels like a spiritual crisis is a tired body telling the truth in the only language it has.

Think about it

When was the last time you assumed something was wrong with you when you were actually just exhausted?
